The Taperstick stands on a square base decorated with gadrooning, raying shells, scrollwork and stylised leafage, all below a very unusual domed section of swirling bat wing fluting. The tapering, faceted, stem has square shoulders, a spool shaped capital and is decorated with various bands of gadrooning. The design of this Taperstick is most unusual and the quality and colour exceptional. The underside of the base displays a crisp set of hallmarks.
