This very rare piece is modelled in the "Drum" form with a corded rim and base.  The main body is plain in design and the cast scroll handle is attached to the side of the main body, with a cast chair back thumb piece above.  The cover is engraved with an outer reeded band and a drapery banner engraved with "Pepper" with a contemporary Crest and foliate scrolls below.  The Pot is in excellent condition and is fully marked on the underside and with the maker's mark and sterling mark on the cover.  It also has its original clear glass liner.

This is one of the rare drum pots which was used for Pepper, only the second we have seen over the years.  Burrage Davenport was a very fine maker of such pots, as well as pierced items.  A very rare piece.
