This very rare George III Asparagus/Bacon Dish was made in York in 1810 by Robert Cattle & James Barber.  This is an exceptional piece which stands on four very unusual cast paw feet, with raying lobing above.  The shaped rectangular body displays a lobed border with very beautifully detailed double Rococo shells in each corner, flanked by acanthus foliage.  The handles are also most unusually modelled as two cornucopia joined at the top.  The Tray is of an exceptional weight, due to the cast elements, and this is very well marked on the reverse.  This piece is in excellent condition, which can be seen with the crispness of the corner shells.  Bacon/Asparagus Dishes are rare from any location, however to find one from York is very unusual.  As you will appreciate, this piece would serve a number of uses on the table.
