The Sugar Caster is of an unusually large size , is baluster in form and stands on a cast and applied spreading foot. The foot and main body are decorated with horizontal liner bands. The domed pull-off cover terminates in a cast bell finial and is pierced with bands of stylised flower heads and scroll work. The cover is also engraved with swirling linear bands. The front of the main body is engraved with a contemporary Armorial surrounded by a floral and foliate spray cartouche. The Arms are those of Bellingham quartering Leigh of County Chester and County Derby. The Caster is in excellent condition and is of a very good weight. It is fully marked in the foot and with maker's mark and sterling mark on the cover. John Delmester was a specialist maker of casters, of very fine quality.
