The Drinking Beaker is of circular form, with an everted rim. This piece stands on an applied flared foot, decorated with reeding. The lower section of the main body is decorated in a typical seventeenth century design with a wide band of palm and acanthus leaves. The upper section displays a lobed band, chased with arrow head motifs. The Beaker is made from a very thick gauge of silver, which is shown at the rim and displays its original interior hammer marks. The front of the main body is engraved with a set of contemporary scratch engraved initials and the base displays a very crisp set of hallmarks. This type of beaker from the late seventeenth century, seldom appears on the market.
