PAUL STORR. An extremely fine and rare William IV Wine Mug made in London in 1834 by Paul Storr.

This very rare Wine Mug stands on a plain stepped foot decorated with reeding. The slightly tapering sides rise to an everted rim decorated with reeding. The sides are beautifully chased with crisp vine and grapes on a matted ground. The naturalistic handle is modelled as a vine branch with tendril mouldings where it is attached to the body. The Mug has a gilded interior and is fully marked on the side and marked STORR & MORTIMER in the foot. This piece is in excellent, original, condition. This form of Mug was peculiar to the Sorr workshops and a similar example, with different decoration, is shown in " Paul Storr" by N.M. Penzer, page 231, in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum.

Height: 3 inches, 7.5cm.
Diameter at the rim: 3.45 inches, 8.63cm.
Weight: 7oz.
