An exceptionally rare "Bachelor" Oil & Vinegar Cruet made in London in 1780 by Joseph Preedy.

This beautiful Neo-Classical Cruet is of the very rare "bachelor" size for the use of one person. The stand is "Boat" shaped in form and stands on four bud feet. The sides rise to a beaded rim and two unusual leaf capped ends. The Classical bottle cages are decorated with engraved scrolls and have fluted column supports. The little facetted cut glass oil and vinegar bottles have beaded mounts and a reeded loop handle. The hinged covers are decorated with a foliate motif and are engraved with a contemporary Crest, which is also shown on the frame. The Cruet is in excellent condition and is of the finest quality, displaying a full set of hallmarks on the base. This is the first time we have ever seen a bachelor oil and vinegar Cruet of this unusual Classical design.
