A very fine pair of George III Neo Classical Sauce Tureens and Covers. Made in London in 1777 by Thomas Evans.

The Tureens are modelled in the Neo Classical "Boat" shaped form and stand on an oval, cast, pedestal foot decorated with beading. The main body rises to a beaded rim and the two scroll side handles are decorated with reeding and display acanthus leaf mouldings where they are attached to the main body. The stepped, domed, covers are decorated with applied beading and terminate in a Neo-Classical urn finial, standing on an acanthus leaf platform. Both the covers and main body are engraved with a contemporary Crest. All pieces are in excellent condition and are beautifully decorative when not in use.

Height: 6.2 inches, 15.5 cm.
Length, handle to handle: 9.1 inches, 22.75cm.
Weight: 46oz, the pair.
