A very fine George III Serving Slice made in London in 1783 by William Plummer.

The Serving Slice has a navette shaped blade which is unusually pierced and engraved on both sides. The blade has an outer bright cut border enclosing horizontal pails and roundels. The centre displays foliate scroll work surrounding a very unusual basket containing a flowering plant. The blade is attached to the beaded handle with a disc mounding engraved with a stylised flower head. The blade is very well marked and is engraved with a set of contemporary script initials. William Plummer was a specialist pierced worker and this is a fine example of his work.

Width: at the widest point on the blade: 2.6 inches, 6.6cm.
Weight: 5oz.
